ABOUT
Career Experience
Nike: 1992 - 2007
During my fifteen years at Nike, I held a wide variety of positions focused primarily on apparel product development. These included my most recent role as the Director of Product Development Operations for the U.S.
Colleagues have described me as creative, innovative and energetic, with a history of driving vision and strategy across the organization. My strengths included analytical and decision making skills, and during these years I developed broad experience in leading and facilitating change.
I was consistently looked to as a coach and mentor, both by my direct reports and by other colleagues within the Nike organization. In each of my many roles at Nike, I developed a deeper understanding of the challenges that executives, managers and individual contributors naturally face in a modern, complex, international corporate environment that was characterized by constant transition and change.
Jantzen: 1971 - 1991
Beginning my career at Jantzen as a management trainee, I gained wide exposure to the full world of apparel manufacturing, from spinning, knitting and fabric finishing, to sewing, garment finishing and distribution. In the following years I held many roles across a variety of functions that included marketing, sales, merchandising and merchandising management, with my last role as Vice President of Men's Activewear. The foundation of my functional expertise and leadership style was built at Jantzen, and a major source of inspiration and learning was the breadth of the apparel industry experience I gained while working there.
Coaching Training
Hudson Institute
I sought formal coaching training because I wanted to round out my education and experience to become even more effective in helping others navigate change in their work lives. I explored many coaching programs. The Hudson Institute staff and their approach provided exactly the additional experience I was looking for.
Founded in 1986, The Hudson Institute of Santa Barbara is a training ground where leaders and professionals learn to sustain resilience, future vision, and renewal within their life and work environments. It used to be that people planned and lived their lives in a very linear fashion, with a set flow of events. For example school, marriage, family, career, and retirement. Now, however, we understand that the norm is change and transition throughout our lives, with a constant barrage of unexpected and life-alterning events. We also understand that this change and disruption is actually the natural prerequisite for growth. The Hudson Institute, it's approach to coaching and the Cycle of Renewal framework facilitates new competencies for dealing with these surprises and new possibilities. Hudson-trained coaches are able to assist individuals, teams and organizations to understand and respond effectively to change.
